Fire Hazard Severity Zone Exclusion
Per California Government Code 51178, the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is charged with creating maps to identify levels of fire hazard within the state. The OSFM utilizes fire scientists, and wildfire mitigation experts, to develop maps using a science-based and field-tested model that assigns a hazard score based on the factors that influence fire likelihood and fire behavior. We are happy to announce that after the most recent state survey, West Sacramento was notified by the State Fire Marshal that we do not have any areas within our city that would be classified as a Fire Hazard Severity Zone of any category.
West Sacramento Firefighters Inspire Young Readers During Reading Across America
The West Sacramento Fire Department was thrilled to participate in Reading Across America by visiting six local Kindergarten classes to read Dr. Seuss and other children's books. This event fosters a love for reading while connecting children with their local firefighters in a fun and engaging way. The department is proud to support early childhood literacy and create lasting memories through this special reading initiative.
